You would think there would be some market segmentation here: "Well compared to the traditional core audience they're probably smaller and devote a lot less time to the hobby but, twist, they have material disposable income."

Where's the video game equivalent of "It's a nice bottle of wine. I expect to consume it in +/- an evening, possibly in the company of other people who appreciate nice bottles of wine, at the nice bottle of wine price point."

It probably says a lot about me that I understand that this is a thing that people in the professional class do but I cannot name any type of "nice bottle of wine" and don't have a good idea on the price point other than "Probably like $80 or so? I've never bought any."

PUBG, Fortnite, Overwatch, the MOBA’s, CSGO, Rainbow Six Siege, and many other top streamed and played games all work in <1 hour sessions. A complete PUBG match where you win and survive longest will go about half an hour. 99% of players die earlier.

One of the rare times where 99% is used literally, and is correct.

That's exactly why and how I play Overwatch. In case you're looking for accommodating experiences :-)
-
Yes! I played 3-4 games of Overwatch with my kids (14 and mature 12) last night, and we had a blast. Total time investment was less than an hour.
