Leaving Tokyo now via the elevated, sound insulated, seismically safe toll highway in a taxi covered in doilies. The driver doesn’t want to talk to me about Uber. Bliss.pic.twitter.com/5yRQ661kLY

Your lunch options include virtually any cuisine you want, cooked from fresh ingredients that day, within a 5~10 minute walk of where you are, for under $10~12. And it will be pretty uniformly excellent.

Yeah I was amazed how universally good a randomly chosen restaurant was in Japan in general. This is not the case in the US and in the parts of Europe I have been to.

I have had maybe two bad meals in 15 years here. (The burrito filled with ketchup that was advertised as “tacos” where the waitress told me that my definition of a taco was wrong and that ketchup is the same thing as salsa was by far the better story of the two.)

Rofl. That is pretty good. I mostly avoided non-Japanese food outside of pastries and donuts.
