I often see a variant of this: Them: "Can we meet for feedback?" Me: "Ok." [time passes] Me at the mtg: "Here are 14 points of feedback." Them: "Thank you!!" [doesn't take any notes] [time passes] Me: "Did you try #2 or #5 or #11?" Them: "Nope. When'd we talk about those?!"https://twitter.com/semil/status/986106995894714368 …

I haven't figured out how to resolve this, b/c I feel like feedback deep dives where people don't take notes are mostly a waste of time. I've debated asking upfront that someone email me w/follow-up notes after the mtg, but that feels way too annoying & self-important. Advice?

Nobody has ever reacted negatively to “FYI here is my recap of the meeting to supplement your notes.”

(There’s some power dynamics and signaling issues here but I generally play it as status neutral — I’m taking these for me and sharing them because given the work is done why not capture the conversation.)
