Almost 20 years ago a friend who was a senior manager at a Scottish insurance company told me that’s exactly the reason they retained management consultancies i.e. to get their ideas accepted by the board.

You don't even need to tell them what they're doing wrong...sometimes just hearing something is enough to trick people into fixing their broken processes.

I have done this internally at every company I’ve worked for to great verbal praise and zero financial return. I would pay money to learn the right way to sell it and turn it into a consultancy.
