for every time prettier adds a suboptimal newline, there are at least 10 times I write a block of code with no regard for formatting and it fixes it for me instantly. good trade-off imohttps://twitter.com/rauschma/status/985580155962822656 …

prettier frees up a surprising number of brain cycles. You just have to write code parseable enough such that prettier understands you, then it confirms by reformatting. Feels like "get me half way there and I'll do the rest of the gruntwork for you"

and with incremental flow checking as well, the ide gives you constant feedback with each save. you're like "how about this?" and it goes "yep, and i formatted it for you" or "nope, try again"

Replying to @dackerman
go fmt has the same magic for me. “If it were right, it would have compiled and formatted.”
