The surprising thing isn’t that the folks who put out that sign then get stupid amounts of deal flow (or whatever your industry calls “Good will except with concrete economics attached to it”), it is that, knowing this, the rest persist in strategy.

There is also the fact some outsid. are much more comfortable reaching out to this handful than others. And again most outsid. persist with the bad strategy. I think there are real reasons for this though. People don't really know how to interact with people they don't know yet.

There are all sorts of fears one can have. I personally still feel quite uncomfortable reaching out to people that don't affirmatively indicate they want to be contacted. I am sure there is a better attitude one could have but I haven't figured it out yet.
