I have a nuanced viewpoint on whether you want to *start* as a SaaS business, which the short version is "probably no if you've never run a business before." This is mostly due to the lead time required to get good at marketing and sales at SaaS.

You can charge $6k for software that is reasonably buildable and supportable by a single person! That's great news! But you get the $6k over N years and so you need to sell hundreds of accounts to support the team, and that requires finding thousands of qualified prospects.

And since that is highly non-trivial, it's a better idea to start with e.g. an infoproduct business, productized consulting, or a plugin in an existing ecosystem, start developing marketing/sales systems (and a reputation for delivery among customers who like you), etc.
