A really common genre of email I get asks for permission to try something. The eternal student in me understands the impulse, while greatly regretting that we inculcate it. You don’t need anyone’s permission to try writing software / running a business. Build something. Sell it.

Hi Brandon, use Google, Facebook and LinkedIn to find people who want to talk to you and who want to pay you money to use your product. — Tweak your outreach ( ads ) until you get people to click on your ad.
