Examples: “I’m making X for Y. Do you think it is worth money?” It doesn’t matter what I think; I’m not the customer, just like I’m not the customer of 99.9998% of all businesses. I can make wild guesses as to what the customer will say, or you can just ask them for money.

The education system treats getting an idea clawed out of the ether into a written form and submitted to a person in a position of authority as Significant Praiseworthy Work. This rounds to zero. If you accumulate 200 days of doing that, the sum of value produced rounds to zero.

I do not say that to be discouraging; I say it so that you can spend one hour, just one hour, on talking to actual customers and outperform the counterfactual of talking to non-customers for 200 days.

If it is a thing of direct value to you, it is 200% okay to just keep it to yourself and use it. One of my earliest "Rails is awesome" moments was when I'd built a blog I'd actually *use* daily (and then did.)
