Presumably the split on the $60 package is something like $10 to the store $50 to the provider, meaning revenue contribution of $10 and that revenue is ~100% margins. This sails over the number one objection of Japanese housewives to buying cleaning services, which is aesthetic.

(There exists a strong feeling among many women that outsourcing household services would be an abdication of responsibilities / criticized by mother and peer group / etc. Which is unfortunate but it's a real objection and really costs sales; I've watched it happen on both sides)

My bet is that "Oh, hubby got me cleaning for a day instead of flowers, well, it would be poor manners to refuse a Mother's Day gift" sails straight over that objection. At which point the service provider gets into your home, cleans, doesn't steal anything, and then says:

"Well that wasn't nearly as bad as you were expecting, was it? The whole house cleaned and you didn't need to do it. Now... just spitballing here... what if we were to do that for you, say, every two weeks? I have a menu right here and can work with your budget."
