I wonder if this matters more for companies which need "commodity" staff vs. those which need specialists. If you're anticipating a worldwide talent search, the USA is not where I'd want to be.

As a professional who enjoys some juicy risk, I like being in a city where I had to stop telling people in social situations that I'm an engineer because being asked "Are you looking for a job?" got too annoying.
