I'm a little professionally miffed because that's the exact opposite of the right way to handle a price increase in a subscription business. If you're an upstanding business you generally grandfather in existing customers and raise the price on new ones. LegalZoom is not.

Now if I were dealing with an upstanding business I would go over to their website and try to figure out what the heck happened but, hah, LegalZoom put up a roadblock asking me to agree to an updated ToS which would make this kosher:pic.twitter.com/be4dVaF2Jx

Now this would be really vexatious if I were a babe in the woods, and I was almost inclined to pay quietly and write it off as a cost of doing business, but then I remembered: oh yeah, I work for the payments industry and chargebacks are a thing.

So I literally got interrupted in the middle of drafting that last tweet because in the 3 minutes between filing a chargeback and opening Twitter someone from Chase called and we had a lovely conversation, the short version of it was "Haha, no, no, what are they thinking."

Disclaimer: If you're not aware, I work for a business which competes with LegalZoom, in roughly the same sense that a shirt competes with a coat of stinging bees for being something you could use to cover your torso.

I have an extra large mailbox and work from home. If a Michigan address works, you're welcome to use me as a registered agent for free,
@patio11 (Seriously ... alas, i doubt a Michigan address works) -
I appreciate the offer but this thing is trivial for me to arrange from a specialized provider of the thing.

Atlas should also launch registered agent services at reasonable pricing. I can see a lot of LegalZoom customers pissed off soon.
