This is a little airy for my usual beat but the general thought here is one that gets much closer to "actually executable tactical crunchiness" than one might expect. For the vast majority of people reading me, today is 5/10/20 years ago from another day still in your career.

It's funny. My snap emotional reaction to "Consider whether what you are doing today will have 200 year out impact" is "Oh you're probably getting big for your britches there" but given that is also most common response people give me to the 20 year impact question, I doubt it.

(It's waaaaaaay easier to have a 20 year impact than people model it as. "Write stuff down" gets you like half of the way there and "Make sure stuff is where interested people will read it" is the other half, and the second part gets easier over time due to search/etc.)
