People think that the cyberpunk dystopian use of this is nonconsensual celebrity pornography. I think that the definitely cyberpunk arguably dystopian use case is “Can you picture yourself in this Chevy? We can.” and show you literally behind the wheel.

That’s not science fiction that is a hackathon project now, thanks to the ubiquity of cameraphones, Facebook allowing you to tie identifiers to arbitrarily large photo corpora, and all the CPU power you could ever want at AWS.

A variation: Convincing simulcra of Dad: “I’ve always wanted the best for you, Patrick. That’s why I want you to buy life insurance from Aflac.” (It will probably start with far more marginal firms but if it works and isn’t illegalized well look who spends billions on TV ads.)
