Someone is going to eventually popularize an addressing system which makes people enter pointers and have a computer translate that into a physical address. My bet is Amazon, but it really *should* be one of the logistics startups.

No, addresses in Japan work quite functionally. I can trivially write my address in a way you can understand. You can trivially mail me a package; it will arrive. There's a slight difference in fundamental assumptions on what deserves a name.

The USPS already substantially does this, they just don't like to advertise it. I have seen successfully delivered postcards with the address "SIPB, MIT, USA" (IIRC).

With my PO Box, I've successfully sent myself something addressed only with the ZIP+4.
