A problem with treating people who are LARPing a financial institution as if they were an actual financial institution is that financial institutions do not have 9 figure IT budgets because they enjoy the smell of burning money. Those LARPers are not smarter than enterprise IT.

So the criticism boils down to something like “the teams criticizing <entity> fails to recognize <entity>’s (probably reasonable) reaction to <some event/observation about some *coin>?” For some values of entity, event, ‘coin’ that were implicit but I’ve managed to mostly miss?

The criticism is "The grown-up financial industry spends material amounts of money in part to eliminate tail risk. The cryptocurrency industry believes the grown-up financial industry is stupid and does not understand what tail risk is. They are then surprised when they hit it."
