Two rounds of web forms, two phone calls, a paper letter, and another phone call later, a Japanese financial institution has come to see things my way regarding the appropriateness of spelling my name the way my other bank does. Getting them to this point was classic:

Mc Kenzie, because some genius at the US passport center decided to put a space before the K to emphasize that it was capitalized (all letters are capitalized on a US passport) and the latest 2 rounds of status of residence renewals have not accepted my argument to ignore space.

This sound exactly like my myriad interactions with Indian banking or government institutions. Clearly, red tape & bureaucracy has globalized faster than the efficiency & CX. Btw - I do marvel at the fact they seemed to have a documented procedure for the most obscure edge case!
