Incidentally if you don't live/work in California and wanted a dodge to the salary question "Oh California illegalized that question so to be fair to potential employers I'm not telling anyone" might potentially work.

My standard dodge to the question is "As a professional courtesy I do not reveal private information about previous employers[, including their compensation schedules]." but this allows you to rely on the normative force of The Law (TM).
