Maybe I'm demonstrating my middle-class upbringing here, but I really don't know what people earning $400k+/year do with all that money, aside from "throw it into ETFs and plan on retiring early".

More taxes, property in expensive places, private childcare / private education, and higher budgets for things that other middle-class people buy.

A thing which surprises me, coming from a background without much money, about the professional class is e.g. how "Oh yeah I visit Japan once a year; that's not a big deal since I can still use email" is a common, reasonable thing to say.

Like the cost of an international commercial air ticket is less of a worry than the number of hours they'd spend in the air and/or otherwise disconnected from the office.
