There exist good reasons to make initial communications direct and to-the-point, or to have executive summaries on the top of long docs.

Does "wall of text" simply mean "large amount of text" now? I always understood it to mean text which isn't split into paragraphs.

In that context "sorry for the wall of text" isn't about apologizing for using too many words, but rather apologizing for bad formatting.

email and other on-line careful paragraphing and bullet points help greatly. If feasible, shorter lines, or able to expand text also good

Paragraphs that would be acceptable on paper can be unreadable on a screen in smaller type
