Disagree. Human readable formats are harder to parse, thus more likely to create security vulnerabilities.

I've seen some APIs that pretty print when user agent is a browser/curl. It's a nice touch

Personally, I feel that gzipping should be an optional flag set by header. Some bits of infrastructure may not have that baked in
