You want getFullYear. Moment.js is a solid lib for all things dates. Can be super heavy, take care to import only necessary i18n strings.
> today.getMonth()
> V

"A number representing the year of the given date, according to local time, minus 1900.", whoever is not using @momentjs is crazy/brave!
For any serious date stuff you'll want to use http://momentjs.com
"year of the chief"

getDay() is the day of the week and it's zero indexed, Sunday is 0. getDate() returns the numeric day of the month, not zero indexed.
Sunday is not 7?
