I wonder, though -- a lot of what I liked about Go was the toolchain (go fmt, blazing fast compiles, etc) more than the language itself.

I don’t see it replacing Ruby for web development. Though I can see me using it for cmd-line tools or small microservices

I like Elixir but Crystal has less of a mental shift for Rails devs just augmenting their core app. Same for Go
