"vagrant up" aaaaaand 30 seconds later there's a working Rails console; nice. No wrangling with all the usual dependency/database/etc fun.

as someone who maintained it at
$work, not so sure… vagrant + virtual box eats crazy RAM, vagrant + VMware segfaults frequently -
if you don’t have it configured properly, shared folders make things *really* slow. your team can need to learn SSH+Linux to debug
