Yeah but Japan is really racist too! As a mixed-race family, our options are Pakistan or Japan so that at least one of us is the "default".

In my experience "white American" is advantageous as compared to "Brazilian", Chinese/Korean in most cases, and Africans from Africa.

I have heard some black American friends here say that they felt the delta between white Americans and black Americans was less here.

I do not know if I would necessarily agree with that but that accurately reports their their opinions after 1~2 years.
