The IRS has subpoenaed Coinbase for all transaction records from 2013 through 2015 apparently, probably to develop a list of names.

Read the motion; they cited 3 cases where BTC was used as part of a larger evasion. Seems like fishing with a broad net though...

Coinbase fight it in court. BTC boosters praising "principled company". No one asking why legal protection is needed to begin with.
