If you want to program web applications in C, you should learn Go. It has almost everything you like about C, but is better for that task.

Go basically exists because Google decided "We want something approaching the performance of C without it being a constant nightmare."

I think most of us are thinking, who on earth proposed writing a web application in C? You can do that?

There are a handful of C/C++ frameworks out there. I think one was recently posted about on Hacker News, actually.
