Github has decided to charge users ~7 minutes of dev time per month. HN is, predictably, outraged. (Likely outcome? Money hats, naturally.)

I get that for some users it is a price increase, but Github non-enterprise-version has been criminally underpriced for professionals.

"We've got 30 developers! This is going to cost us $270 a month!" If you had a meeting to complain about it THE MEETING WOULD COST MORE.

@patio11 Slightly more concerning is "We have 30 EC2 instances and each of them is a @github user because deploy keys are horribly broken".

@patio11 In most companies you can call a $1000 meeting 10-100x easier than getting a $1000 expense approved.

@patio11 I now want every pricing chart to include a cost comparison vs cost of meetings.https://medium.com/@kevinsuttle/my-brain-immediately-goes-to-i-can-use-this-to-illustrate-how-expensive-meetings-are-47aa432ddac5#.wrq3ima1y …

@patio11 @maccaw it’s still bad news for dev shops that add clients as collaborators to projects. Would results in ever increasing costs now

@patio11 I agree with you. I'd pay for Github 5x more than I pay now. I rather see the problem as a sudden change for some organizations

@patio11 some teams were paying $X for years and now they will have to pay not 20-30% more, but 5-10x time more

@patio11 that sounds like my argument that Xamarin was cheaper than 3 dev teams. That meeting cost is already paid for, they don't care
