It is probably not a true statement that the best engineers work for the best companies. Problematic heuristic for hiring, too, both ways.

@patio11 Yup, nobody gives enough credit to how much of hiring is about propagating info (e.g. "X co. is good") without corrupting it. -
@patio11 I suspect this is why referrals are still so important--social graph encodes lots of tacit info that job ads &c can't capture well. - 1 more reply
