Hey Internets: do I want to be using DataDog for monitoring application performance? (GoLang / Rails, highly technical team, minimal devops)

@patio11 What are you using currently? And how sensitive is your app to latency and general responsiveness?

@mallyvai Nothing, Starfighter is greenfield development. We'd prefer to be fast not slow but don't need to wake someone up over it.

@patio11 Data dog for availability, New Relic for performance monitoring.

@patio11 Seriously I use both but the out of the box depth new relic gives you is kind of mind blowing.

@patio11 I use @getsentry , built-in heroku monitoring, @cloudfront. eschewed datadog for cost, plus having enough coverage from other three

@patio11 Early on in life cycle, site success/failure usually binary. Slowness usually in DB or cache. Cloudfront tracks that cheaply, easy
