Consultants should generally have two rates: free and "the rate." Avoid discounting; needing to suggests non-$ issues w/ client & your biz.

"I would love working with X." is an excellent reason to work with X. If you're working, charge your rate, because you're working.

If X does not want to pay your rate, harsh truth incoming: X does not love working with you. You will often find your gig deprioritized.
