This does *not* appear to be the case with desktop Safari at the moment. 8.0.8 (10600.8.9) Only figured it out by connecting iPhone to Mac.

Coolest trick that I didn't know about two hours ago: you can USB connect an iPhone to your Mac and then use Safari web inspector on both.

@patio11 Newly compiled apps with Xcode7 have App Transport Security default on (no HTTP with HTTPS) except EXPLICITLY disabled by dev. -
@patio11 ATS though only exists for iOS9. Advertisers suggesting to disable ATS for app if you want your in-app ads to continue working. - 1 more reply
