(One of the weird things to get used to when running a business for me was taking my meek, apologize-for-almost-literally-anything behavior and saying "OK so that's definitely still me but the company, on the other hand, has a Process and you'll deal, as people generally do.")

It definitely is a bit of an adjustment to get to say things in a declarative manner, ex "This is what will work for me." with a period, and not "I would really prefer this, any chance it would it work for you?" and having to dance around the other person

I have seen very smart busy people use "I don't want to take up too much of your valuable time" as a very friendly way to say "don't take up too much of MY time"
