This seems like an awesome blog / podcast opportunity. Know if there's any content out there focused on this world?

Echoing that question. I suspect there are lots of private deals on various software firms, but where do you find data on the ones that didn't want publicity?

Not surprising at all. Look at the government's census data for number of people employed as programmers, then look at the number of programmers employed by FAANGs. The vast majority of software jobs exist in unknown companies. Companies in the great middle.

Most DBs show about 200,000 software companies globally. So about 0.5% selling per year? Seems plausible -- maybe a bit high though.

And that's just the ones he _found_. What % of acquisitions wouldn't show up in a reasonable trawl?
