The Dagger and the Coin series is rapidly becoming one of my favorite ever. (Elevator pitch: banking + dragons. Obviously, my objectivity is compromised.) It is the rare work that grows in ambition over time and simultaneously in skill to meet it.

Ah, well The Expanse is a kinda popular scifi book series and TV show that Jeff Bezos liked so much it had Amazon buy the rights when it was about to be cancelled, but I have never seen or read it tbh

It’s a lovecraftian space opera. The first book is worth a read. 7/10.

The Expanse (book) has an excellent setting but poor execution. The TV series is pretty well done and fixes some of the issues with the book. Worth a go. Maybe a 6?

The author of Dagger & Coin co-authors a far future SF series which has been nominated for multiple awards and is popular enough to have a TV series based on it.https://www.amazon.com/Leviathan-Wakes-James-S-Corey/dp/0316129089 …

I'd say conservatively, "7". The Expanse is considered one of the better scifi series of the last decade, featuring traits like compelling characters, realistic subspace transit times, and politics that are enthralling without being too difficult to follow.
