"I object" is a very different (and IMHO in most cases better, both for you and for the objectee) statement than "that's objectionable."

Even in cases where one is predicting the reactions of third parties it is more instrumentally effective to have an explictly stated particular avatar in mind than some amorphous Someone. e.g. "Sociopolitics of SF tech companies being what they are 1+ employees will likely..."

Versus a not-so-hypothetical conversation: A: "Objectionable." Me: "I think reasonably calibrated X will read this to say..." B: "Yes but not everyone is reasonably calibrated." Me: "Well everyone has disappointments in life and perhaps this line might become one of theirs."
