A question from a friend: "Looking back from 2040, what's the largest capex-heavy new company that will be founded in 2020-2025?"

Think this is heavily sensitive to one's definition of a "new company." I'd bet on default winner: large, well-understood industry + emerging market + massive foreign investment with some level of local control for political/etc purposes. Cement or steel somewhere in Africa?

Not being biased or anything but back when I was in TZ,we had massive steel and cement companies that would dominate the market through out the whole of E. Africa. It was impressive how they branched out. I think it will be a company from there to take over the whole Africa soon.

Probably will be someone like Amazon, Google or FB that takes over cement and steel

Cement companies have been doing really well over here. Before COVID anything to do with construction was doing extremely well. We don't have enough steel plants though.

Infrastructure of Africa is an interesting bet. Except construction: Telecommunication (global satellite internet?), high speed rail/alternatives, education.
