What are the biggest obstacles to bootstrapping to ~$1k MRR?

People feel extremely awkward about sales, despite the fact that $1k MRR is probably less than 20 calls away, and many people call make 20 phone calls in a week.

n.b. Scales basically linearly for each subsequent $1k of MRR through most numbers relevant to people who are thinking of that $1k milestone.

"No way that math works out." I'm assuming one has a $250 to $1k price point available for B2B SaaS.

How about a B2C software with a much lower ARPU?

I'd advise not making it unless you have very deep pockets and/or a captive distribution machine like AppAmaGooBookSoft have. The market is voting for B2C software: we agree with AppAmaGooBookSoft. It should be free or close-to-free, subsidized by ecosystemic lock-in.

But why? Selling B2B SaaS is different from selling B2C SaaS, isn't it?

There's certainly a big psychological barrier to that (though self-signup is a way of skirting that), but arguably financing the development of a product that customers pay for is a bigger lift.

So deeply fascinated by this. I‘m phone anxious & do not make or receive calls, and had no idea some companies are built by making calls. (An exception: Mine, 16 people, zero calls.) I wonder how many don’t even consider it as even a potential thing, because they don’t use phones

I think this is equally as misleading as "if you can even fizzbuzz you can get a great dev job". The vast majority of people don't hit $1k MRR in their first 20 calls. It can be done and some people with the right skills can do it reliably, but most don't succeed so easily.
