The news in Japan is not good. I refer you to your media outlet of choice. For anecdotal reaction: My wife took these photos a few minutes ago in central Tokyo. There are a lot more on this theme, covering several grocery stores.pic.twitter.com/8paF2IDY7W

Logistics is functioning (for the most part). Most of this is people who have recently updated negatively on how bad the situation is going to get in Tokyo.

Can I ask how (anecdotally) mask-usage is in Tokyo now? Are they starting to be sold out again, or have people gotten their Abenomasks?

Tokyo is one of the most photographed cities in the world, including via live web cams, and it is modestly safer for me to tell you to trust the evidence of your eyes on this score than to tell you what the ground truth is.

In the first heavy wave of stay-at-home guidance, the mid-Atlantic looked like this. Shelf stocks bounced back after about a week. Lots of factors - folks getting their last paycheck spent it all on food, folks used to eating out having to stock up. It is bad, but will rebound.

Still tons of stuff missing at the stores here in the Philly area but it has improved.

I hope you saw what was happening in the States, and stocked up already.

States? I saw what was happening in Italy and did my first panic buying in late February. I'm sure they have too

if it's anything like over here, people stocked up on wrong things. The stands with meat and fish are probably fully stocked.

Many Japanese apartments have fridges that barely can fit one big bag of items. Meat won't last for long in the open.
