It's a comms strategy for stay-at-home. It's community support for a skilled trade experiencing a demand shock. It solves a very real problem for users. But the thing I like most about it is that it is the triumph of human ingenuity. #(%)# you, coronavirus, haircut over TCP/IP.

Another wild thing about this: once life goes back to normal, some relatively long time from now, how many people in the world do you think make their living cutting hair over TCP/IP? It's *probably not zero.* Somebody is going to figure this model out, be *really* good at it.

Maybe it's through remote hair styling consulting (you provide the cutting) or plausibly it is even "Take your phone to a hairstylist of your choice. They're good, but they don't do Cher's hair. I do. I'll tell them how to make you a star."

"That sounds implausible." You can pay money for a Gordon Ramsey burger without Gordon Ramsey having ever been in the same physical space with the same physical beef, right. That's normal. Does this need anything other than "a good Instagram photo, most of the time" to work?

Related pet hate: You (an inexpert in hair) sit down at the barbers and the professional expert in hair asks *you* for all the input, and asking for pointers is politely rebuffed with "well, what do you like...?" Dat asymmetry.

A massage therapist friend has agreed to do a version of this. I have relied on massages to manage chronic pain for years, but obviously can’t get them now. She’s going to explain some techniques to my boyfriend over FaceTime.

I think there is a technique learning curve too I don’t think it’s just like cooking the ingredientes where if you get the amount right, times and other factors you will have a nice tasting dish It is like if you had to learn how to operate a knife close to how a chef does too

Showed this to my girlfriend and she was essentially horrified at the prospect. Might only work for very specific demographics.

I watched a stylist instruct a woman live on Instagram the other day. It took two hours but she looked great. The ingenuity and creativity to problem solve using tools we have at our disposal is inspiring.
