What's the reason companies release games exclusive to a single platform? Take Animal Crossing New Horizons...exclusive to the Switch. The obvious answer is that it helps Nintendo sell more hardware by keeping their games exclusive. But do the economics *actually* play out?
"Improve the economics?" Discount on your royalty rates, marketing commitments, straight-up "Ship a game by an internally significant date that meets our standards and we'll pay you $X0 million.", etc.
