I keep being amazed at how Google is bigger than ever in terms of ppl, but search is getting worse, Gmail is stagnant, Docs is still pretty subpar (only good idea was co-authoring, which is now old), etc. What are they doing over there.

Yes, but it’s the distinction between product and infrastructure. As you add more people and complexity, infrastructure tends to scale well. Product tends to die.

Search is much better than it used to be. Maps and YouTube are excellent. Android and Chrome constantly getting better.

3/4 agree. Youtube is okish for the amoubt of resources they have, but kinda stagnant. Recomm videos get dubious if you watch a lot, and subscription notification is a mess
