I’d quibble a bit that I would not described this as low-tech. This was effective operationalization of cutting edge medical science. Downplaying it absolutely the wrong move; might make officials embarrassed to try it or delay uptake abroad.

The staff at my local corner shop are now wearing masks, and (IMO cleverer still) have piled up cardboard boxes in front of the till in such a way that you physically can't approach within six feet of the cashier. I was rather impressed.
