In a very sign of the times tale, edited for being more to the point, here’s a conversation with my parents. My mom is notably at risk. Me: I want to stress that it is going to get worse in Chicago and is already dangerous. Please stay at home. Dad: Have been mostly doing that.

uggghhh same with my parents, it's the "mostly" that makes me sick with worry. they think it's ok to be "just a little" irresponsible

Is random cloth from a fabric store the right sort to make masks from? I thought it needed treated fabric to ensure that droplets wouldn't soak through.

Join the club of convincing parents not to run errands. My mother just popped out for some fresh bread, and then I freaked out, so they slowly got it. My father is head of HOA, and now disinfecting is mandatory in shared spaces in Slovenia. Hope it's not his job. He will turn 70.

At least they’re being proactive, it took me nearly a week to convince my mom to make masks because “here they say masks aren’t necessary” - stupid government misinformation.
