Official fecklessness, global spread of information faster than the disaster but ignored except where it wasn’t, acts of heroism and grace, a rapid mobilization across society, I will say the words “South Africa” and warm that the book gave me new nightmares 10+ years later, etc

The audio book is brilliant. The voice acting is unbelievably good. Highly recommended even if you have the book.

Can also endorse the audiobook. It is edited (even the "unabridged" version is missing a few lines), but >95% faithful to the content of the original, and the performances are great and elevate what was already a wonderful cast of characters.

I Am Legend, the book, not the atrocious Will Smith movie, deserves a similar recommendation.
