I have family in Ontario, California and my local (Wisconsin) post office would regularly return my mail demanding additional postage to Ontario, Canada.

US postal service is historically really surprisingly good at delivering with incorrect addresses, and bad writing, even going so far as to have employees manually look up the recipient. It would be interesting if that’s changed recently.
