Also, manually maintaining freebusys is like manually maintaining IP addresses. Google and Slack know when I’m sleeping or busy, plausibly with much more fidelity to the truth than I do. (They’re really called that in calendar software. Had to work with the API. /cry)

We've regressed. Slack-paradigm tools just assume you are always on and messages persist until you get to them.

I’ve seen and personally experienced the ebb and flow of this sentiment. In short; it becomes a bit of a leash. The flip is also certainly true; being indeterminately available can be disengaging to others. (Or mysterious + worth pursuit!?) Finding balance is 42.
