Widespread social distancing in place; substantially all schools shut. Difficult for me to give color on medical or governmental response; check your friendly neighborhood media outlet.

Have you seen any confirmation of this? I've been waiting for the sun to rise there to see some reporting. Latest established that I've seen:https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/09/italian-hospitals-short-beds-coronavirus-death-toll-jumps …

Hey @patio11 — has this been independently confirmed? I read it and believe it but avoided signal boosting because I couldn’t find verification.

I worry that social media has gotten some people addicted to the feeling of being involved in a crisis. To the extent that demand for crises exceeds supply, crises can be either manufactured or pulled out of the dark matter of unfortunate events happening in the world daily.

You have many followers. We need to slow the spread of this virus. One of simplest is to at least ban large events. Can your encourage people to contact their local government and use Santa Clara county as example? Barely testing in US, once we know may be too late.

"Is he subtweeting coronavirus?" No, but I am reasonably sure that I remember three months ago, and the people who are absolutely certain coronavirus is the biggest problem in the world today don't seem to have obviously changed in tenor from three months ago.
