Another prediction, following closely from the first: universities will not reimburse for canceled classes. “Why would we?” / endangers pricing power will be the internal rational; sustainability/finances/fairness/etc the external rationale.

Comports with
@bryan_caplan's observation that students regularly skip classes. Doesn't matter, the brand and GPA are all that go on the resume. Evidence that a lot of university is about signaling rather than education. -
GPA is debatable.

Small subset, but US students studying abroad in Italy/(soon Spain) have no way to finish courses. Rather than extend those students education by 1 semester, this will be their X%
-
Interesting extension is internships. What happens if ~50%+ consulting/tech/finance cancels summer internships? Obv disproportionately affects low-income students, but do companies feel well that internship recruiting is sufficient bar for full-time to just give the offer?

This paper by
@GonzaloGaeteR is loosely related and suggests X is low (without the online component). With online teaching, would depend a lot on motivation and compliance. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2988825 …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Half of one KCJS semester was cancelled for me (2011) and it had no impact (and I still got the credits)

If I was being snarky, I'd say that based on observed preference, that most prefer folks who already "attend less" because they spend a share of time on extracurriculars. (To the extent this is an accurate way to describe things, I think this is a good thing!)
