And for every one of these miniature ecosystems there are multiple PE funds and/or rollups trying to buy as many of the viable companies as they can get to say yes.

I suspect US companies are now at the point where they're spending enough on SaaS to start actually trying to cut those costs, and most SaaS products can be replaced by standard tools used properly or by open-source alternatives that just require more initial configuration.
